I had mentioned this back when I finished the tool ASM2. This is the 'next generation' called (predictably) ASM3.
Some of the differences:
known issues:
- Closing a server View windows with the "X" button in the upper corner will not stop the server leaving the process running in the background.
- Sometimes the text appearing in the log view will lose its linefeeds causing the lines to jumble together. Have not fou9nd th4e condition that causes this but will investigate it further.
Some of the differences:
- The initial release of this utility set is for the Windows platform only and require Microsoft .NET framework v4.5 to be installed. While this will be ported to a Linux based
- .NET system it is not there yet, If you require this function on Linux, please continue using ASM 2 for now.
- Internal threading is handled quite a bit differently. Earlier versions required timed actions to occur. This version is event driven and will only change its displays based on events. thnis makes UI response much snappier.
- UI is 'prettier' using more graphical buttons indicating status and actions you can do.
- Moves away from the tabbed inverface of ASM2. This one uses separate, non-modal windows for most functions.
- ASM has moved away from the tabbed model to popping up separate windows for each function to allow multiple log views visible at once.
- Underlying language is C# rather than Java.
- ASM 3.0+ comes complete with an installer so it can be installed and uninstalled using standard Windows control panel.
- Settings are stored in a more standard way and are not externally editable. Settings editor allows sorting the key fields to make finding items you want to change easier. As well the expected type of the value is also visible.
